Pickleball Courts in the Texas Hill Country and Beyond
One of the best things about the pickleball boom is that courts are popping up everywhere. Here’s my running guide to spots worth knowing about, starting close to home and spreading out across the region. I’ll keep adding to this as I discover more.
New Braunfels
The Courthouse (350 Dragoon Xing) is my current favorite and the newest gem in town. Six covered indoor courts, free beginner lessons, open play from $12.50, a full-service restaurant, craft cocktails, live music, a kids’ play area, and a giant outdoor sports screen. It’s the kind of place you show up to play and end up staying for the afternoon. Highly recommend.
Das Rec (345 Landa St) is New Braunfels’ community rec center and a solid, affordable option for drop-in court time. Six indoor hard courts with permanent lines and portable nets. Great facility overall with a pool, gym, and more. Check the gym schedule before heading out as times vary.
NB Pickleball Club (1269 Summerwood Dr) is the dedicated club option in town with indoor air-conditioned courts, which in a Texas summer is basically a miracle. Open play, reservations, classes, clinics, leagues, and even court cams to record your best moments. Member-run and very welcoming to newer players.
Cranky Pickle (624 Krueger Canyon) is just outside town near Canyon Lake and absolutely worth the drive. State-of-the-art 65’ x 35’ courts with permanent nets, a full bar, bonfires, and a great vibe. Open play most mornings and evenings. One of the most fun spots in the area.
Wimberley
Pickle Y’all (945 Ranch to Market Rd 3237) has quickly built a reputation as one of the best pickleball facilities in the Hill Country. Four private climate-controlled indoor courts, a fully stocked pro shop, and always-present staff. Built by players, for players. Make the trip.
Dripping Springs
Dripping Springs Racquet Club (13730 US-290) offers pickleball alongside tennis and padel in a beautiful setting. A hidden gem with well-maintained courts and friendly staff. Worth a visit if you’re heading that direction.
Pickle Pit Stop (12915 Nutty Brown Rd) sits just past Dripping Springs toward Austin. Three indoor courts, AC, reasonable prices, and a welcoming owner. Great option on the eastern edge of the Hill Country.
Fredericksburg
Pickle Haus Social (3508 US-290) is a brand new indoor facility already earning rave reviews. Open play, leagues, lessons, tournaments, beginner nights, and private court rentals — all in a welcoming, climate-controlled space. Clean bathrooms, showers, and a great spot to play before or after hitting the wineries.
Fredericksburg Racquet Center (500 Friendship Ln) is a family-friendly option with courts open daily from early morning. The local Fredericksburg Pickleball Club is also a great resource for finding games and connecting with players in the area.
Kerrville
HEB Municipal Tennis Center (801 Tennis St) is a well-maintained public facility with courts available at very reasonable rates. Worth calling ahead to confirm pickleball availability and schedule.
Salvation Army Kroc Center (201 Holdsworth Dr) is a full recreation center with court play, a gym, pool, and more. One of the best all-around facilities in the western Hill Country.
