If someone in your life has caught the pickleball bug, you already know. It’s all they talk about. The good news is they’re actually pretty easy to shop for. Here are seven gift ideas that any pickleball player, beginner or full-on obsessed, will genuinely appreciate.

1. A Quality Paddle

A well-made paddle is the most useful gift you can give. Look for one that’s USAPA approved and matched to their skill level. Beginners do well with a mid-weight fiberglass or carbon fiber paddle in the $60 to $100 range. If you’re not sure where to start, a carbon fiber paddle set is a safe and well-reviewed option. My personal paddle is the Vatic Pro Prism Bloom and I love it.

2. Pickleballs

Balls wear out faster than you’d think, especially if your player is on the court regularly. A fresh pack is always welcome. For something a little fun, try glow-in-the-dark pickleballs for evening play, or neon optic yellow Franklin balls, USAPA approved and easy to track in outdoor light.

3. Court Shoes

Regular sneakers on a pickleball court are a recipe for rolled ankles. Court-specific shoes offer better lateral support and grip. Asics and New Balance both make solid options worth browsing. Look for something labeled for hard court or tennis use.

4. Pickleball Apparel

From performance shirts to hats built for Texas sun, there’s no shortage of pickleball-themed gear. Some of it is genuinely funny and this one gets a laugh every time. Think about your recipient’s style and climate. Lightweight and UV-protective goes a long way in the Hill Country heat.

5. A Ball Retriever

Anyone who practices solo knows the struggle of chasing balls across the court. A ball retriever is one of those practical gifts that sounds boring until you use it every single session.

6. A Good Bag

A dedicated pickleball bag keeps everything organized, paddles, balls, water bottle, towel, the works. Look for one with paddle compartments and ventilated pockets. Dick’s Sporting Goods carries several solid options worth checking out.

7. Courtside Snacks

Fuel matters. Fill that new bag with their favorite court snacks, protein bars, nuts, electrolyte mixes, dried fruit. It’s a small touch that shows you actually pay attention. Bonus points if you throw in a good insulated water bottle.

“I’ve started describing everything in pickleball terms. Traffic was a soft dink. My commute was a kitchen violation.”
